A fun and engaging tool to support your child’s fine motor skill development: the BusyKids Educational Activity board House!

As a psychomotor therapist, I’m always on the lookout for engaging and educational tools to use during my sessions with children.

Today, I’m excited to introduce the BusyKids Wooden Educational House, a versatile tool that encourages fine motor skill development while remaining fun and captivating for little ones.

What is the Educational Busy House?

This wooden Busy House features over 30 educational and sensory activities. Each side, including the roof, is designed to offer age-appropriate challenges. It includes shape-sorting games, lock systems, gears, a chalkboard for drawing, and many more interactive elements!

Its sturdy wooden construction and safe finish make it a durable and visually appealing toy, perfectly suited to small hands. Plus, it’s available in various colours to suit every preference!

Motor and cognitive benefits for your child

By handling the small components on the playhouse (locks, buttons, gears), children improve their precision and hand-eye coordination. The different textures (wood, fabric, soft rollers, etc.) provide rich sensory stimulation.

These activities also help strengthen finger dexterity and grip strength, which are essential for future tasks like writing. The integrated chalkboard allows children to draw and express their creativity freely.

Shape-sorting and manipulation games foster spatial awareness and basic geometry skills, laying the groundwork for future cognitive development.

From a cognitive perspective, these activities encourage problem-solving, logical thinking, and hands-on learning. For example, opening a lock or fitting a shape requires observation, thought, and trial-and-error. Through free play with the playhouse, children learn to explore, experiment, succeed—or fail and try again.

Who is it for?

This Busy House is suitable for children from 12 months onwards, when they start showing interest in activities that involve coordination, fitting shapes, and building. It remains engaging for years and is highly popular with children up to 8-10 years old.

Younger children will explore the different elements freely, even using the playhouse as a little hideout, while older ones will enjoy solving more complex activities (buttons, laces) that challenge their emerging skills and curiosity.

My professional opinion as a psychomotor therapist

The BusyKids Educational House has become a staple in my therapy sessions, and my little patients absolutely love it. It’s a fantastic choice for parents who want to provide their children with a toy that’s not only fun and durable but also highly educational and supportive of psychomotor development.
